New PhD student at MGMT - Taus Mørck Hermansen

Hello MGMT

My name is Taus, and I am one of the new PhD-students here at department of management. 

Some of you may recognize my face, as I have already worked here for a year as a full-time research assistant with Christiane Høvring. Others may recognize my name, as I am also the Taus who forgot his laptop in Valhalla on his first day as a PhD (it was found shortly after, thank you for the questions).

During my time as a research assistant I did qualitative research within the emerging field of digital responsibility. We interviewed a lot of private companies about the ethical problems that can arise, when you work with digital technologies. This sparked a curiosity for me: How do you deal with these problems as a public organization, when you are forced to live up to a higher standard, while simultaneously being under constant pressure to reduce costs? This curiosity lead to my PhD-project where I will be researching the tensions between effectivization and inclusion in public digitalization from an organizational perspective.

I have a mixed educational background, with a bachelor's degree in media studies, and a masters in ITKO, a master’s program that many of you are probably familiar with. From this I have developed an interest in communication, organizational change, and especially tensions that occur during change.

Outside of university I live on Trøjborg here in Aarhus, and enjoy spending my free time watching movies and TV shows, playing video games and reading books (anything with a nice story and I’m there). I am also a bit of a gym rat, and I enjoy talking about any form of training with anyone who shares that interest. Finally, my girlfriend does a lot of kntting, which means that I listen to a lot of knitting talk, and now have several proxy-conversations going on about knitting here at the department. Feel free to comment on my knitwear, if you wish to have one of these as well, my girlfriend always enjoys it, when I bring home news of a new sweater being made.
