New PhD student at MGMT - Jessica Könnecke
Hi everyone,
I am Jessica and I recently embarked on my journey as PhD student here at Aarhus BSS. I would describe myself as an open-minded person who loves to learn from other people and tries to contribute her part to an equal society.
I am originally from Nuremberg, Germany, and only recently moved to Aarhus. After high school I decided to study International Business. I went on to apply for a master’s program in Sweden and studied International Marketing in Lund. After finishing my master’s degree, I wanted to build a professional career that enabled me to initiate positive change. At that time, I had been part of some initiatives related to climate activism and I knew that I wanted to build a business around this topic. That’s how I founded my own sustainable e-commerce startup which I have been building for more than five years. I then decided that I needed a change and went back to university to study Gender Studies at Linköping University, another field of great interest to me alongside environmental topics. I am extremely glad to merge entrepreneurship and gender studies in my PhD project with Helle Neergaard as my supervisor and Nicole Siebold as my co-supervisor. In my research project, I will investigate ways to make entrepreneurial ecosystems more inclusive.
One of the reasons why I love to live in Aarhus now, is the proximity to the water. I love to swim and when I am brave enough in the mornings, I even go for a quick dip in the water. Next to swimming, I like to go to the gym or do yoga. I also love art and good coffee, so on the weekends you can find me at the ARoS museum or in one of the many cute cafés in the city.
I would be happy to meet you for a coffee in Valhalla or if you want to come by my office (2623-207), I am interested in hearing more about your research interests.
