New PhD student at MGMT - Nadja Holt Pedersen
Hi MGMT,
My name is Nadja, and I am excited to start a new chapter at the Department of Management as a PhD student.
Some of you may already recognize me, as I've been roaming the halls of BSS for quite a while now. I completed both my Bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Administration and my Master's degree in Marketing here at Aarhus University. During my Master's studies, I started as a research intern, which later turned into a position as a research assistant for Susanne and Anne.
Before joining academia full-time, I worked as a student assistant at a media agency here in Aarhus. My role was essentially to optimize advertising campaigns and engage consumers for as long as possible. During that time, it became increasingly clear to me that a lot of effort is spent on capturing attention, but I found myself more interested in understanding how to protect younger consumers on social media. After my studies, I worked as a research assistant conducting qualitative research exploring perceptions of inclusion among minority and underrepresented groups. Through this experience, I discovered not only a strong interest in vulnerable and underrepresented consumer groups but also that I genuinely enjoyed the research process itself.
These experiences ultimately shaped my own PhD journey, where my research focuses on how adolescents and influencers perceive and respond to disclosures on digitally altered influencer images, and what the implications are for both marketing effectiveness and adolescent well-being.
Outside of work, I live in Brabrand with my husband and our 10-month-old daughter. Now, we seem to be permanently involved in some sort of home renovation project. We are slowly discovering that renovating a house with a baby takes about three times longer than expected. Besides this, I love sports and outdoor activities. I have spent a lot of time doing mud races, mountain biking, and boat racing here in Aarhus. I also enjoy knitting and am currently trying to teach myself how to sew. As you might imagine, time is a limited resource, so if anyone has figured out how to manage a long list of hobbies while raising a baby, I am very open to advice!
And of course, if you'd simply like to chat about anything else, please feel free to stop by.
I look forward to getting to know all of you.
