Hi! My name is Julia, I'm originally from the north of Germany, where I began my professional journey with a dual bachelor’s degree in economics & BA in cooperation with the food wholesale company “Chefs Culinar”. This study format allowed me to combine full-time employment with academic studies, giving me hands-on experience in corporate early on. After completing my bachelor's degree, I worked for another four years at Chefs Culinar in Hamburg in the field of logistics/supply chain management. At some point, however, I felt the urge to explore new paths—both academically and personally—which led me to Aarhus BSS for a master’s degree in marketing.

I quickly fell in love with the “hygge” lifestyle and the vibrant student atmosphere in Aarhus. After an exchange semester in Lisbon, Portugal and a few months of travel through Southeast Asia, I decided to return to Denmark and now I’m starting my PhD journey here at Aarhus BSS.

My research focuses on the management of firm-initiated re- and upskilling programs for digital skills. I’m particularly interested in the role of individual self-determination, work engagement, and organizational support in making these programs successful. With digitalization continuously reshaping the workplace, I’m passionate about helping organizations empower their employees to grow, adapt, and thrive through lifelong learning.

Outside of academia, I love being active in nature—whether that’s running, hiking, surfing, or simply going for a walk. At the same time, I enjoy slowing down with yoga or knitting (a newfound passion in 2025, especially during those long Danish winters). I’m also a very social person who enjoys cooking with friends, spontaneous coffee and "BMO" dates on weekends.

If you're ever up for a chat, want to exchange knitting ideas, or just share a good cup of coffee, feel free to drop by my office, 2623-206.
