New PhD student at MGMT - Jan Smolinski
Hi there! My name is Jan, and I am happy to have started as a new PhD student at the department as of the 1st of February. This is not my first time in Denmark, I did my Bachelor's in Digital Management at CBS in Copenhagen. After that I moved on to a Double Degree Master's at CBS and Bocconi in Milan in Economics, Management, Innovation and Technology.
My parents will sometimes joke that I wanted to be a scientist as long as they can remember, one of my earliest Halloween costumes as a kid was a lab coat. I like researching various topics like AI, innovation, entrepreneurship and negotiation. In my PhD project I will specifically look at how AI can support entrepreneurs in their ventures and find out which types of founders can benefit most from using the technology. My supervisors are Franziska Günzel-Jensen and Peter Kesting. Having founded startups myself, I hope to be able to provide new ventures a useful starting point in how they can use AI better.
Beyond these topics I also really like Formula 1, swimming, video games, and books. Feel free to reach out if you would like to talk about any of them or my research! I am originally from Poland and grew up in Germany, so happy to connect in any of those languages as well!
