Hello everyone!

As you already know, my name is Emilija, and as of February 1st, I started as a PhD student at the Department of Management, and I am thrilled to be embarking on this journey.

Even though I just started my PhD, you might have already spotted my face around the corridors of Aarhus BSS, as I’ve been working as a research assistant for the past 4 months, or perhaps I was a student in on of your classes during my Bachelor’s (Economics and Business Administration) or Master’s (Marketing) studies - both from Aarhus BSS.

I’ve always had a strong interest in digital marketing and spent a couple of years gaining practical experience in the field, before diving into academia. In the upcoming years, my focus will be on personalized marketing and its relationship with customer engagement. With significant developments in AI, companies can now easily collect and process larger amounts of consumer data, allowing them to tailor their offerings and advertisements to individual consumers, potentially increasing customer engagement. However, as consumers, we don’t always perceive personalization as a positive thing, as it raises privacy concerns, can feel invasive or sometimes even a little creepy. Hence, my research will explore how companies can harness the power of personalized marketing without invading consumer’s privacy.

But enough about my project... And let me share a bit about me outside of academia. When I am not working on my research, at the risk of sounding boring, I’ll admit there’s nothing I enjoy more than cozying up on the couch, with my dog by my side, a cup of tea in hand, diving into a good book or tv show. And yes, I am also a fan of nature, working out and exploring the world.

I am really excited to be part of the department and looking forward to connecting with all of you. If you ever need me, I am located at 2622-213 and would be more than happy to chat.
