MGMT Awards

This year's MGMT awards went to Ingo Kleindienst, Simone Lykke Tranholm Mouritzen, Oana Vuculescu, A-Sung Hong, Marco Hubert and Mette Jacobsen

This year a total of six awards were given out at the summer party in June. The traditional three awards from the Departmental Council and three research awards from the MGMT Research Committee.

And the awards went to:

Teacher of the year 2023-24: Ingo Kleindienst
Ingo was presented with the teacher of the year award because he is an absolutely fantastic teacher. Furthermore, he has invested so much thought and effort into reshaping the entire IB curriculum. His primary focus is on imparting relevant, practical knowledge and skills to our students. It is truly inspiring to have a colleague who is so dedicated to his work. He has been very dedicated also to the MBA teaching and the development of a dynamic (computer based) case study to make things interesting and relevant for this ‘hard to please’ group. Last but not least, despite being German, Ingo still has a sense of humour!!

PhD student of the year 2023-24: Simone Lykke Tranholm Mouritzen
Simone received the award because she has consistently shown extraordinary commitment to the PhD community as an organiser of this year’s PhD writing retreat, monthly PhD seminars and lunches. She has played a significant role in enhancing the academic progress but also promoted a welcoming and collaborative atmosphere among the PhD cohort. Her dedication extends further through her involvement in the PhD well-being initiatives at AU. Her approachability and willingness to assist others with questions related to teaching and research further demonstrate her role as a supportive and inclusive PhD student.  Finally, she is such a joy to be around, and always brightens up the workdays.

Colleague of the year 2023-24: Oana Vuculescu
Oana was awarded colleague of the year because if Oana has not received this award already, then it is long overdue! She is just the smartest, friendliest, caring and most active colleague. She is always happy to chat, truly interested in hearing what you are doing, and always honest. She is a go-to person when you need advice or when you are unsure about something. Oana does everything she can to help despite her super busy schedule. She is also ombudsperson, member of the diversity committee, and involved in AI in teaching. Last, she participates in organising the summer party for all her colleagues!

MGMT junior research award 2023-24: A-Sung Hong
The MGMT junior research award was presented to A-Sung for his single-authored work published in Strategic Management Journal. The paper highlights his interest in innovation (e.g. what drives patenting behaviour) and the outcome of competition race for discoveries of leading technology firms.

MGMT senior research award 2023-24: Marco Hubert
The MGMT senior research award was given to Marco in recognition of his research work. It was awarded for Marco’s continuous improvement in publication efforts. Recent papers published in Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and Computers in Human Behavior are particularly noteworthy. Also, Marco is successful in winning significant-sized EU research grants leading to new postdoc and PhD positions at MGMT, as well as the development of new research networks and skills for managing such funds.

MGMT PhD research award 2023-24: Mette Jacobsen
The MGMT PhD research award was presented to Mette in recognition of her published work in Public Administration Review. In this advanced review Mette and co-authors not only review the current research frontiers but also identify voids in the literature and thus advise new avenues for further research. Mette is particularly interested in human capital in the public sector related, for example, to challenges of recruitment and selection of labour.

Congratulations to all our award recipients!
