Part-time lecturers

Qualification requirements and conditions

The qualification requirement for a part-time lecturer is a completed master's degree. In addition, employment as a part-time lecturer requirers either:

  • Relevant practical experience at a high level, which has not been obtained through academic employment at a university

or

  • A main academic position at another university

A part-time lecturer can be employed permanently or for a limited time.

The law on temporary employment applies when hiring a part-time lecturer. The position of part-time lecturer can be filled with or without a job advertisement.

When hiring without a job advertisement a part-time lecturer can be employed for max one year and can have one extension for up to one year.

When hiring with a job advertisement a part-time lecturer can be employed for max three years and can have two extensions for up to three years at a time.

Permanent employment avoids the need for extensions. In addition, permanent employment requires that the job has been advertised, unless the person who is permanently employed is already employed via an advertisement.

  • CV
  • Proof of acquired master's degree
  • Academic assessment - must be carried out by someone at associate professor level or higher, The academic assessment must be signed, and it must be made clear who prepared it.

  • AUID
  • exact period of extension
