Hi Everyone,

My name is Mette and I am one of the new PhD-students which started in the beginning of September at the department of Management. I am enrolled in the 4+4 program meaning that while starting up my research career I am at the same time completing my MSc in Finance and International Business here at Aarhus University. The overall headline of my research projects is “Variations in Audit Quality and Auditor Characteristics” and I am under supervision mainly by professor Frank Thinggaard and co-supervised by professor Niels Skipper from the ECON department.

My interest in accounting was founded back in my childhood as a daughter of an auditor. Here I was taught that auditing is a very concrete process without variation. In working with the preliminary project description for my PhD-application I discovered that the auditing process and audit quality is a much more sensitive subject. Among other things it is sensitive to the supply side, such as auditor gender characteristics and structures within audit offices, accordingly this is the starting point of interest for my research.

Privately I am living in Aarhus with my husband Søren and one year old child Edith. In my spare time I enjoy spending time in nature being active by going on runs and mountain bike trips as well as doing outdoor activities such as mushroom-gathering or hiking. Besides, I am very social and like to spend time with both my family and friends and will always be up for at challenge on a Padel Tennis court or football field.

Finally, feel free to come by my office in 2628-405 any time. I am looking forward to getting to know everybody along the way.
