New PhD student at MGMT - Mattis Thierion Lund
Hello everyone,
I'm Mattis and I just started the PhD programme together with the rest of the group on the 1st of September. Although I'm half Danish, half French, I've only lived in Denmark, and moved to Aarhus four years ago to start my studies in Cognitive Science. The attentive reader may have noticed that I am a 4+4 student, hence the shorter stay at Cognitive Science.
I've worked at the department as a research assistant on the 'Patterns of Interactions: Emergences and Consequences' project for the last three years and have learned a lot about dealing with naturalistic interaction data - especially regarding physiological synchrony.
In my project, I'll aim to apply that knowledge in combination with computational methods (Bayesian cognitive modelling) to investigate the role of synchrony in common-pool resource problems (CPRs). CPRs are situations where there is open(ish) access to a resource that is subtractable - if I take X, that X is gone for the group. This may lead to questions about the dynamics of taking for oneself or opting to leave resources for the group - or for the long-term sustainability of the resource itself. Cognitive modelling provides an opportunity to estimate the latent psychological parameters in the decision-making process, using degree of synchrony to predict the (a)social behaviour those parameters produce.
When I'm not looking at dark-mode R, I really enjoy sports, from bouldering to football (coyg) and tennis. I also love to go cycling on my old 90s Peugeot racing bike. I'm very interested in winemaking, having worked in different wine bars across Aarhus and going to blind-tasting competitions. Naturally, with good wine follows food, and I love spending time cooking at home or going out to new restaurants.
