Abstract
New venture creation often requires venturing individuals to engage with external actors to gather feedback and refine their ideas (Shepherd, 2015). The resulting interactions are important for venture development, as information shared by external actors might lead individuals to revise previously held beliefs and change their course of action (Shepherd, 2020). Investigating how venturing individuals shape the scope and direction of their engagement efforts over time can therefore enhance our understanding of new venture creation processes. This study aims to complement the growing stream of literature by exploring variations in engagement approaches among individuals over time, at the early stages of new venture creation processes.
